EUPAC Addresses U.S. Ambassador in Brussels Objecting to Trump’s Remarks on relocation of Palestinians

The European Palestinian Council for Political Relations (EUPAC) sent a letter of protest to U.S. Ambassador in Brussels, Tim Richardson, expressing its objection to U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks, in which he called for the relocation of Palestinians to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Qatar.

EUPAC stated that these remarks represent clear support for forced displacement policies, which constitute a blatant violation of international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, which explicitly prohibits the forcible transfer of populations under occupation.

EUPAC affirmed that the Palestinian people, both within occupied Palestine and in Europe and all areas of the diaspora, categorically reject these calls that aim to uproot them from their land and homeland.

It pointed out that such statements reinforce the illegal agenda of the Israeli occupation and entrench its policies of genocide and forced displacement, crimes that no human conscience or international law can overlook.

Moreover, EUPAC expressed, in the same letter to the U.S. ambassador, its strong disapproval of President Trump’s signing of executive orders that would halt U.S. international aid to UNRWA, which plays a crucial humanitarian role in assisting millions of Palestinians suffering under occupation and persecution.

In light of the catastrophic conditions Palestinians face in Gaza and other refugee areas, EUPAC l emphasized that the continued operation and support of UNRWA represents an international commitment to the duties of the global community toward Palestinian refugees and their rights.

Additionally, EUPAC pointed out that the forced displacement of Palestinians will not resolve the humanitarian crisis gripping Gaza; rather, it will exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people, destabilize the region, and worsen the humanitarian crises in neighboring countries.

It also called on the United States to retract these calls, emphasizing that they are doomed to fail. A clear example of this is the massive return of hundreds of thousands of displaced people on Monday, January 27, 2025, from their displacement areas in southern Gaza to their homes in northern Gaza, despite the complete destruction of homes, institutions, and all resources in those areas, noting that this return reflects the deeply rooted attachment of the Palestinian people to their land and their right to it.

Furthermore, EUPAC emphasized that the solution does not lie in displacement or deportation, but in ending the Israeli occupation, stopping the aggression, and enabling Palestinians to live with dignity in their homeland, in accordance with international legitimacy.
EUPAC also called for the realization of the return of Palestinian refugees to their homes from which they were forcibly displaced in 1948, in line with United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194.
