EU Reaffirms Support for Palestinian Rights and Two-State Solution

The European Union has reiterated its commitment to the rights of the Palestinian people and the two-state solution, emphasizing the need for a sustainable peace in the region. Kaja Kallas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated that the people of Gaza have endured immense suffering, and both Palestinians and Israelis deserve lasting peace. She stressed the importance of transitioning from a ceasefire to a durable resolution.

In remarks shared by the EU, Kallas highlighted that Europe remains a staunch supporter of the two-state solution and the rights of Palestinians. She noted that the EU is the largest humanitarian donor to Gaza, providing critical aid through its support for UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees).

Kallas also welcomed the return of displaced individuals to northern Gaza and emphasized that reopening the Gaza crossings is essential to ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the population. She called for a permanent ceasefire in the region, expressing hope that a sustainable peace in the Middle East can be achieved through the two-state framework.

Furthermore, Kallas affirmed that the EU mission is prepared to play a constructive role in supporting efforts to maintain a ceasefire in Gaza and advance the prospects for long-term stability.
