EU: Israeli Settlements in Palestine Are Illegal Under International Law

The European Union has expressed deep concern over the escalating Israeli violations in the occupied West Bank, particularly the ongoing raids on the cities of Jenin and Tulkarm.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the EU said, “The increasing number of iron gates, military checkpoints, and closures in the West Bank significantly disrupt Palestinians’ daily lives and restrict their access to essential services. These measures undermine stability and must be removed.”

The EU also voiced alarm over the continued settlement expansion since last December and the rising number of violent attacks by Israeli settlers. It reiterated that Israeli settlements are illegal under international law and constitute a major obstacle to achieving peace.

The statement stressed the need for Israel to halt settlement expansion and legalization, prevent settler violence, stop forced evictions and displacements, and ensure accountability for those responsible for these violations.
