The European Commission today announced a new €120 million aid package for Gaza, bringing the total EU humanitarian assistance to Gaza to over €450 million since 2023, in addition to the airlift flights that delivered over 3,800 tonnes of aid.
President Ursula von der Leyen said: “The ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages provide much-needed hope, but the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains bleak.
Europe will provide €120 million in aid in 2025, along with tonnes of in-kind assistance, to continue supporting the Palestinians.
The aid package will include: food assistance to address acute food insecurity and malnutrition; healthcare assistance to support the functioning of health facilities and the provision of medical supplies; water, sanitation and hygiene support to allow access to water and sanitation services; shelter assistance to provide safe and secure housing for those displaced; and protection assistance to support the safety and dignity of vulnerable populations.
The EU will work closely with UN agencies and other humanitarian partners to ensure rapid delivery of aid, according to the statement.
