Complaints Filed Against Israeli President in Switzerland for Incitement to Genocide

Swiss prosecutors have begun examining multiple complaints filed by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) against Israeli President Isaac Herzog, accusing him of incitement to genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The Swiss Attorney General’s Office announced that it had received several criminal complaints against Herzog, who visited Switzerland this week to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The office stated that “the criminal complaints are now being reviewed in accordance with standard procedures,” adding that it is in contact with the Swiss Foreign Ministry to examine “the issue of immunity of the individual concerned.”

The Swiss News Agency clarified that one of the complaints was filed by an NGO called “Legal Action Against Genocide.”

The agency added that the organization is calling for Herzog to be prosecuted on charges of “incitement to commit genocide and crimes against humanity.”

The complaint alleges that Herzog played “an active role in providing ideological justifications for genocide and war crimes in Gaza by erasing all distinctions between civilian populations and combatants.”

International human rights organizations are actively pursuing legal action against political leaders and Israeli military personnel in various countries for allegations of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.

On November 21, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, at the request of ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan, on charges of committing war crimes in Gaza.
